BRONTO SKYLIFT
saw a successful second
quarter of 2013, the company
announced despite a small
decline in orders. Net sales in
Federal Signal Corporation’s
Fire Rescue Group (Bronto)
increased by $4.2 million, or 13
percent, to $37.5 million for the
three months ending June 30,
primarily driven by increased
industrial product sales in the
U.S.
Manitou’s second quarter
revenue was down 10 percent
to $425 million compared to
the same period last year,
although the period saw rises
on the first quarter of this year.
Manitou’s Compact Equipment
Division (CE), which includes
the Gehl and Mustang brands
– particularly strong brands in
North America – showed an
increase of 1 percent in revenue
to $83 million compared to the
same period in 2012.
Despite mixed results from
its first quarter,
LINAMAR’S
industrial division, which is
largely made up by Skyjack,
reported growth and a strong
overall first half. The industrial
division saw revenues of $320.3
million for the first six months,
up 10.5 percent over the same
period last year. Operating
profits were $39.3 million, up
a healthy 82.8 percent due
to strong sales of access
equipment.
USM RESTORATION
SERVICES
, a division of

into a larger facility in Gallatin,

company’s growth in aerial work
platform restoration.

sales manager and Stephanie
Gunther as key account sales
manager. McKendree started his
career in the equipment industry
in 1984 with ConQuip, Inc.

Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP)
is developing an online operator
training program for telehandlers,
ALH
has learned. The company
plans to roll the program out by
the end of the year and officially
launch it at The Rental Show, Feb.
9-12, 2014 in Orlando.
Following the Genie Lift Pro
aerial work platform online
training program scheme, the
telehandler training will be a four-
hour-long online course followed
by hands-on training at authorized
Genie dealers across North
America.
The online portion of the
training is not manufacturer
specific; it will cover all makes
and models of telehandlers,
while the hands-on
component will then be
machine-specific. Costs
have not been finalized but
according to Scott Owen,
global marketing training
manager for Genie,
pricing will likely reflect
that of the Lift Pro
scheme, which is $299.
“There is a severe
lack of quality
telehandler training
programs out
there,” Owen
told
ALH
. “The
engine. A two-speed hydrostatic
transmission, with inching valve,
three selectable steering modes,
and a powerful hydraulic system
are all standard on the MT 5519.

.
number one question I get is if
we are working on a telehandler
training program because our
customers say they really need
it. If I had known the demand for
the telehandler program, I would
have developed it before the AWP
training.”
Terex AWP launched LiftPro at
The Rental Show in 2013.

Snorkel finds
potential buyer
Tanfield Group has found a
potential buyer for Snorkel, its
aerial work platform division.
In a statement released in
August, the company said
enough progress had been
made to grant the preferred
potential buyer, which has not
yet been named, a period of
exclusivity, allowing it complete
the necessary procedures ahead
of drawing up a contract.
The statement said, “The
Board is pleased to report that
sufficient progress has been
made on the structure and
broad terms of an acceptable
proposal for the sale of its
powered access division, to
grant the preferred potential
purchaser a short period of
exclusivity in which to complete
its due diligence with a view to
mutually form a contract that
will be executable subject only
to shareholder approval.”
The announcement follows a
statement In July by Tanfield,
in which it said there were a
number of potential buyers
taking part in the negotiation of
a sale and purchase agreement.
