regional manager for Italy Tarcisio
Sciocco said the company planned to open at least onemore
depot in 2015. “We started from zero in themiddle of a bad
period [2011], sowe are of course growing,” he explained. “The
crisis has caused Italian customers to realise the value of rental
instead of buyingmachines.”Mr Sciocco said the company had
already seen revenues jump50% in thefirst fourmonths of
2014, compared to last year. “Rental rates are very low still, but
for us as a newcomer, every rental deal adds something.”
FIORIO
areamanager Alessandro Ferrari said the rental
company, which offers a range of equipment including gensets,
compressors, forklifts and dust extractors, was battling stiff
competition. “We have around 250 competitors – some of which
just assemble gensets, and a lot are smaller rivals. There are
lots of arguments over rental costs in Italy’s construction
market, andwe are looking to new sectors. The energymarket
is one area – there are lots of different applications, and lots of
long-term projects.”
HINOWA
exportmanager Enrico Fracca said the company
had seen good growth since the start of the year. “For thefirst
quarter, saleswere up around 10% compared to last year,” he
said, adding, “Growth hasmainly come from our international
business as the Italianmarket has not changedmuch yet. We
have also been very focussed onwhat rental companies say to
us – it is important to developmachines that the rental industry
wants.” The company introduced a new tracked dumper at the
show – the TX2500 Traxporter, with a 2500 kg capacity.
VFVENIERI
managing director FillippoMuccinelli Venieri
said themanufacturer offered a rental service for backhoe
loaders andwheeled loaders. He said the company expected
sales to the rental market to improve compared to last year,
"butmore because customers are turning to rental assets
instead of direct sales. It is a short-term view from the
customers," he explained.
May’s Samoter showwas smaller than
the previous exhibition, held in 2011.
