manufacturer LindenComansa
has appointedCranewayASas
its dealer forNorway. Craneway
is anew crane rental company
business, set upby three
partners, oneofwhich, Jan
StåleDøhl, hasmore than35
years of experiencewith tower
cranes. Theother twopartners
areownersHæhreEntreprenør
AS, oneof Norway’s largest
construction companies, and the
Mikkelsengroup, a specialist
inmobile crane rental and
transportingmachinery. In the
next three to five years Jan
StåleDøhl said that Craneway
will invest around €6million
(US$6.7million) innew cranes.
Around €4.5million ($5million)
will be spent onComansa flat
top tower cranes in thenext
two years, he said. A three year
planwill see theacquisition
of between30and50 tower
cranes for rent, both toHæhre
andother companies.
Crane serviceprovider
MetallbauNottrott inGermany
has takendelivery of a65 tonne
capacity TadanoHK65 truck
mounted crane. The crane
is fittedonaScania chassis
andhas a65 tonne capacity,
maximum41metreboomand
additional boomextensionsup
to 15.8m. It has amaximum
working radius of 46m. The
first task for theHK65was
installing steel for anew
industrial bakery factory in
Eisleben. In total, 600 tonnes of
steel was liftedonto the factory.
Cargotec reported2014 sales
at €3.36billion (US$3.83billion),
up6%on theprevious year.
Alsoupwas operatingprofit, at
€126.6million (US$ 144million).
Brands in theFinland-
headquarteredgroup include
cranemanufacturersHiab,
Kalmar andMacGregor.

results for 2014werebelow

SarensSouthAfrica lifted
aBoeing737-300airliner
for SouthAfricanaviation
companyComair. Theaircraft
was lifted from theORTambo
International Airport, across
theR21 highway inKempton
Park, to theComair training
centre, where itwill beused for
training. Theaircraftwas
33.35metres long, 18mwide
and5m tall andhadadead
weight of 25 tonnes. Its engines
hadbeen removedandportions
of thewings and tail hadbeen
clipped. To lift theaircraft to its
new location, Sarensuseda
Liebherr LTM 1400, aTerex
AC500andAC200wheeled
mobile telescopic cranes. The
liftwas carriedout overnight to
allow severalmain roads tobe
closed. Thenew training centre
will bebuilt around theaircraft.
Mixedpicture for
cranesat Terex
Sales atTerexCranes for 2014
wereUS$1.79billion, down
7.5%on the2013 figureof
$1.93billion. In theMaterials
Handling andPort Solutions
division, however,which
includesDemag industrial
cranes andGottwalddockside
cranes, 2014 saleswereup
4.75%, at $1.78billion, from
$1.70billion in2013.
RonDeFeo, chairman
andCEO, commented,
“Operationally, performance
wasmixedduring2014, and
the fourthquarterwasno
exception.OurCranes and
MaterialsHandling&Ports
Solutions (MHPS) segments
hadmeaningful adjusted
operatingprofit increases in
the fourthquarter,whileour
AerialWorkPlatforms (AWP)
segmentwas substantially
below theprior year.”Gross
profit atTerexCraneswas
$313million.
DeFeo continued, “For the
full year, adjustedoperating
profit for the company as
awholewas flatwith2013;
however, the contribution
variedby segment.
Performance this yearwas led
by adjustedoperatingprofit
improvements of $54million
and$23million fromMHPS
andConstruction, respectively.
Cranes andAWPdisappointed
with adjustedoperating
profit performanceof $35
million and$25millionbelow
2013, respectively.Cranes
performancewasnegatively
impactedby lowernet sales and
AWPbyproductivity, product
mix andhighermaterial costs.”
Order backlog forTerex
Cranes at the endof 2014was
$538.5million, up7.4%on
the$501.2million at the end
of 2013. In theMHPSdivision,
however, itwas theopposite
in that the endof 2014order
backlogof $574.8million
wasdown28.6%on the
$805.3million ayear earlier.

for eight Böcker craneswill

UK’s largestmobile crane
rental company.
UKdealerKranlyft is
supplying theAK44/4000
models, largest in theGerman
manufacturer’s range of
truckmounted craneswith
aluminiumbooms. The
booms on thismodel are
44metres long and can
be retractedor extended
hydraulicallyunder the
full loadof four tonnes,
themanufacturer said. The
maximum is available out to
8.2m and capacity is 500kg
at 30m. Itsworking reach
is 35m and anhydraulically
extendable jib is also available.
The small size and light
weight of the cranedue to
its aluminiumboom allowed
its installationon a 4x2 rigid
MAN typeTGM18.250 truck.
