ACCESS, LIFT & HANDLERS
JULY-AUGUST 2014
APEX REVIEW
The company manufactures four scissor
lifts and two booms, one articulated and one
telescopic, including a newly-introduced electric
boom and scissors. In the southern hemisphere,
the manufacturer is selling around 1,000 booms
a year into Brazil, it says.
Fellow Chinese manufacture Sivge was also
at the show for the first time. It was there to
test the market in Europe which it sees as a
long-term investment. Its main products are
aluminium mast lifts which it is hoping will find a
market Europe.
It also produces double-, four- and multi-
mast systems which it thinks are not suitable
for the European market, which instead uses
mast climbers. While the European market is
generally a new enterprise, it has had significant
sales in Spain.
This was the second time Sinoboom had
shown at APEX. There were no new products,
but there were a number of new customers
said the manufacturer. All the equipment at the
Sinoboom stand had been sold to a Portuguese
rental company Cimertex – representing the
second order from the client.
Another manufacturer from China, Mantall, had
an electronic scissor on display for the first time.
The XE80N-ED provides a choice to the existing
fully hydraulic version of the model. Also on
show was the XE-60 mini, part of the XE series.
Focusing on the French
Turning back to European producers, France-
based companies were making themselves
notices at APEX.
ATN launched a mast lift at APEX, the Piaf
Compact. It has dimensions of 1.46 m x 0.78 m,
a low 970 kg.
Manitou launched the 260 TJ at the show, a
major upgrade of the 280 TJ. The 26 m working
height model has a 400 kg basket four wheel
drive and 2-wheel and 4-wheel steer. One of
the company’s main aims is to extent its service
offering in this area. “There is a clear market
trend in this direction,” said Manitou President
Michel Denis.
