Haulotte’s
revenues for the first half of the year were up 17.6% to
207
million (US$ 269million). The increase in sales helped achieve a 35% increase
in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, to
19.3million
(US$ 25million). Revenueswere up 29% in Europe, 26% inNorth America and
22% in Asia Pacific, but undermined by a 31% decline in Latin America.
Manitou
reported first half sales of
642million, up 9% year-on-year.
The rough terrain handling division – the largest business unit by revenues
– reported first half sales of
449million, up 13% compared to the first six
months of 2013. And the compact equipment division also reported revenue
growthwas up 5% year-on-year to
133million.
United Rentals
has raised its full-year outlook following a strong first half.
It reported rental revenues for the first sixmonths of the year of US$2.18 billion
(
1.61 billion), up 13.5% year-on-year. Rateswere up 4.6% year-on-year in the
first half, while fleet utilisationwas up 30 basis points to 66.4%.
UK-based
HSS Hire
has reported a 33% increase in revenues and 34% rise
in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the
first half of 2014, fuelled by organic growth and acquisitions. First half revenues
stood at £131million (
164million).
Hertz
said its equipment rental businesswas seeing “softer demand”
with a 1% increase in year-on-year revenues for the second quarter. The
announcement wasmade ahead of its full quarterly results, which have been
delayed because of accounting issues at the company.
Skyjack
increased its sales by 20.5% or $37.5million to $220.4million in
the second quarter of 2014, compared to the same period in 2013. Linamar said
the risewas due to increases in demand in access equipment markets inNorth
America and Europe and the favourable impact of the stronger US dollar.
Terex’s
sales for the second quarter of the year were US$ 2.06 billion,
a 10.4% rise on the same period in 2013. The companymade a net profit of
US$ 140million in the three-month period, compared to just US$ 21million
a year ago. The Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) segment had a strong quarter.

Private equity fundEvergreenPacific Partners has completed the acquisition of
Seattle, USA-basedSafeWorks fromWynnchurchCapital.
Foundedmore than60 years ago, SafeWorks designs andbuilds hoists,
service lifts, climb assist systems, platforms, riggingdevices and other safety
products andprovides training and services. Scott Farrell will remain asCEO.
The company sells its products under three brandnames: Spider, sold through
24 company ownedbranches in theAmericas; Power Climber, soldworldwide
via a distributorshipnetwork; andPower ClimberWind, soldglobally towind
power OEMs, service companies andwindplant owners.
