SteveHall, executivedirector of thePile

saidNCCCOwas theperfect partner to
help create thenewprogrambasedon its
track recordof success and acceptance.
“NCCCO’s expertise in thedevelopment
of operator certificationprograms for the
crane andheavy equipment industries,
aswell as thewidespread adoptionof its
programs throughout these industries,
are twoof themany reasonsPDCA
believes thatNCCCO is the ideal
organization todevelop and administer
thisnewprogram.”
NCCCO joins
crane safety
coalition
NCCCO has joined nine other leading
construction industry organizations to call
on theOccupational Safety andHealth
Administration (OSHA) to correct and
reissue long-awaited crane operator
certification requirements.
The ten organizations that now
comprise theCoalition for CraneOperator
Safety (CCOS), of whichNCCCO is a
chartermember, areworkingwith both
Congress andOSHA to amend and
finalize controversial aspects of theCrane
&Derricks inConstruction Standard.
CCOS is specifically calling for OSHA to
rescind the crane capacity certification
requirements, aswell as a provision that
essentially equates employer certification
with qualification.
GrahamBrent, chief executive officer of
NCCCO, said the organization has joined
CCOS alongwith two other certification
organizations to help ensure theOSHA
provisions regarding certification promote
crane safety, rather than impede it.
“WhileOSHA has confirmed it will
address these concerns during the
recently announced three-year delay, the
industries supportingCCOS have created
this coalition to ensure it is done right and
done expeditiously,” he explained.
