JUDGING CRITERIA

There are five general categories and two awards for individuals. The judging award criteria are:

Large Rental Company of the Year (turnover above €15 million)

Can you demonstrate an excellent and improving performance in one or more areas of your business in 2018? For example, how have you improved your levels of customer service? Are the training needs of your employees being met, and what investment have you made in your fleet? How are you performing financially?  Did you make important initiatives in 2018 that were successful?

Small Rental Company of the Year (turnover under €15 million)

Can you demonstrate an excellent and improving performance in one or more areas of your business in 2018? For example, how have you improved your levels of customer service? Are the training needs of your employees being met, and what investment have you made in your fleet? How are you performing financially?  Did you make important initiatives in 2018 that were successful?

Rental Product of the Year

This award will go to a new product introduced into Europe during the final months of 2017 or in 2018, and will recognise a fantastic product that has benefitted rental businesses, either by offering operational benefits (such as improved ease of use or lower cost of maintenance) or new revenue streams (for a new product concept or new application). Judges will also consider sustainability issues, looking at the product over its entire lifecycle, including manufacturing, operating costs, fuel economy, engine emissions and recycling. The award is open to any supplier that is selling its products in Europe.

ERA Technical Committee Award

This award will be assessed and decided by the ERA’s Technical Committee and no entries are called for.

The ERA Technical Committee Award is for a manufacturer who has done the most, in the view of the committee, to meet the needs of the rental industry. For example, manufacturers who have modified or designed machines in a way that reduces cost of ownership. For background guidance on this, see the ERA’s position papers and guidance notes on issues including ‘Total cost of ownership’, ‘Recommendations on tie down and lifting points’ and ‘Framework on Quick Guides’.

The Sustainability Award

The Sustainability Award will be assessed by the members of the ERA Sustainability Committee.

This Award will go to a single project, initiative or a team within a rental company for an outstanding improvement in the area of sustainability, including environmental, CSR, labour and safety, anti-discrimination, business ethics and related issues. Examples of actions and practices of rental companies in the area of sustainability can be found in the ERA Sustainability Online Brochure http://sustainability.erarental.org

Entries can be submitted in free format or using the standard entry form, in English or the national language of the proposing company. Submissions can come from any rental company in Europe regardless of their ERA membership. Entries from small and medium size enterprises are encouraged.

The ERA/IRN Rental Person of the Year

This award will recognize an outstanding contribution to Europe’s rental industry in late 2017 and 2018. The award may recognise a significant performance in any one of a number of areas, including safety, sales, operations, fleet management, senior management, etc. You can nominate an individual in your own company or an external organisation.

Lifetime Achievement Award

This award is made by the judging panel. The lifetime achievement award is designed to recognise someone who has made a lasting contribution to the rental market in Europe, and may be appropriate for someone nearing the end of their career or who has recently retired or left the industry. This could be a person in the rental industry or someone linked closely to it, such as a representative of an equipment manufacturer. You can nominate an individual in your own company or an external organisation, or someone who is retired from the industry.
