installedona smart phone that allows the
driver to control trailer functions. The
intelligentTrailerAccessPoint (iTAP)
app canbeused for controllingGoldhofer
semi-trailerswith independent suspension,
including thenewMPAgeneration, the
manufacturer said. It allowsdriverswith
heavy loads, for example, touse their smart
phones toadjust rideheight.
Volker Schmidt,Goldhofer chief design
engineer, explains, “Thedriverno longer
has to leave the cab tomake certain changes
to the trailer. In thepast, for example, the
driverhad toget out [of the cab] toadjust
the axleson the trailer.”
The system is installeddirectlyon the
trailer as an extension to theEBSmodule.
Inaddition, it has itsownwireless local
areanetwork (WLAN), independent
trailer functions (which canbe controlled
independentlyof the tractor) and fourpre-
programmedand two freelyprogrammable
axleheights themanufacturer says.Access
to the system ispassword-protected. The
iTAPmodule alsoprovides informationon
tyrepressures andmonitors temperatures.
Inaddition, if a tyre isdamaged, the system
automaticallygenerates analarm.
