Link-Belt promotes Coffey
Link-Belt Construction Equipment Industry named
Dallas Coffey general manager of itsMid-Atlantic
division.
Coffey has worked at Link-Belt since 2003, as
a staff accountant and then general accounting
supervisor. He hasmost recently worked as
controller.
Chuck Martz, Link-Belt CEO and president,
said, “During his tenure as controller, Dallas has
continued to grow and become an integral part of
themid-Atlantic management team.”
IRVIN FREDERICK
SANFORDWHITTEN
passed away
December 22 from
complications due to
a stroke he suffered a
year earlier. Hewas
75 years old.
At 15,Whitten
joined theU.S.MarineCorps
where hewas exposed to heavy
equipment and the construction
field.When he returned home,
he opened Fred’s Excavating
&Crane Service, andwith the
help of industry leaders like
Dean Sims of SimsCrane, Pat
Corbett of Corbett Cranes and
PeteAshlock of CraneRental
Corporation, founded
the FloridaCrane
OwnersCouncil.
“Hewas a greatman
who believed in the
crane industry and
supported the ideals
of the FloridaCrane
OwnersCouncil,” said
his son, BruceWhitten. “He
was a philanthropist, a business
man, and a leader and supporter
who helpedmany achieve their
dreams and goals in life.”
Whitten retired in 2008 and
moved toMississippi to lead a
quiet life away from the crane
industry.
“Many called him ‘Dad’ through
the years and sought his advice
andwisdom,” saidBruce.
“Although biologically they
weren’t his, it didn’t bother him
that they called him ‘Dad.’ Even
more called him a dear friend,
a compatriot, a confidant or
benefactor. His guidance, advice
and support will bemissed by
many.”
He is survived by hiswife
BettyWhitten; his three sons,
Frederick, Bruce and Larry
Whitten; his daughter, Catina
Leigh Skinner; his two brothers,
James andCharlesMarsh; his
sister, BettyMarsh; and his
eight grandchildren and three
great grandchildren.

access hoists, Japanese luffing
jib cranes and attractingnew
talent to the industry.

Kessel will report on the
lessons that canbe learned
from the engineeringdesign
of Japan’s luffing jib cranes.
The event, which is
organizedbyKHLGroup
and
International Cranes
andSpecializedTransport
Magazine, will beheld in
LondonMay 27-28. ITC starts
with anetworking reception
on the 27th followedby the
full-day conference on the
28th.
The conferencewill include
two roundtablepanels: one on
tower crane foundation loads
(withpresentations onnew
FEM andCIRIA guidelines)
and a secondonoperator
access hoists for tower cranes.

HIGHLIGHT
Missy
Walden
has been
promoted
to credit
manager
at Link-Belt
Construction Equipment.
Walden joined Link-Belt
in January 2009 as a
credit analyst. She holds a
Credit Business Associate
certification from the
National Association of
Credit Management and
earned her accounting
degree from Georgetown
College. “Missy has spent
her career in the credit area
and she brings a depth of
knowledge and business
experience to the position,”
said Sandy Hammonds,
corporate controller.
