While Linden Comansa’s manufacturing
takes place in Pamplona, Spain, it has
three main distribution points, two of
new 21LC290 18-ton model for additional
coverage and eventually replaced one of
the 8000 series cranes with a 21LC400.
“This is an example of tower cranes
being utilized in new environments as the
main hoisting element,” Carbeau says.

Another interesting site for Linden
Comansa is the Paducah port in Paducah,
KY. The port was looking to replace its
35-year-old, 20-ton capacity tower crane
with a new 30LC1450. The installation
of the crane, the largest flat-top crane
in North America and the largest on
any North America port, according to
Carbeau, will be completed before year
end. This crane will be capable of lifting 54
tons at a 105-foot radius.
The port moves about 875,000 tons
of cargo a year, loading and unloading
roughly 400 barges. Last year the port
made the decision to substantially increase
the ability to handle larger containers and
heavier shipments.
“The first [Linden Comansa] crane
lasted well over 30 years and they look
for the same longevity going forward,”
Carbeau says.

which are manufacturing and one at a
distribution point.
“Manufacturing is done at the main plant
in Pamplona, Spain and distributed to the
western world from there and directly to
the North America Distribution Center in
Charlotte, NC,” Carbeau says. “The second
plant is located in China and services the
Far East and China markets.”
Whether units are ordered for stock or
placed as a result of a customer order,
they are produced and shipped to the
desired location, Carbeau says. “If ordered
by a customer, the machines and or
components will be shipped directly to the
project location. The cranes are then pre-
assembled and erected onsite.”
One job that recently used Linden
Comansa tower cranes was the Bollinger
ship yard in Texas City, TX.
“This facility makes repairs and
improvements to large ocean-going ships
for various clients worldwide,” Carbeau
says.
Originally there were two Linden 8000
cranes erected but the contractor added a
